Gekko Media Solutions is taking a look at DSLR's, which are getting better and better with the ability to take both stills and full HD video. Is this the end of the camcorder?? Canon, Nikon and Panasonic are the top DSLR names and various models like the Canon EOS 550D and Canon EOS 7D, Nikon D300 S and Nikon D5000 and finally the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 are leading the revolution. With interchangeable lenses, large sensors, shallow depth of field, film like look and their unobtrusive size they are selling like hotcakes. They are also a lot cheaper than a professional camcorder the Canon EOS 55OD can be bought for under e.1,000 including a lens. What still lets them down is the audio, which still isn't the best, sometimes the size can cause shakiness and also camcorders still have the zebra exposure setting, which allows you to set the right exposure. So there is a place for camcorders and the next few years should see very interesting developments within the marketplace and we'll see who will come out on top....
